Equity by Design
Tomorrow, September 24th at 11am EST, please join our Founder/CEO, Dr. Mariela Alfonzo for a panel hosted by AARP on how to “Enable by Design” and “Drive Informed Demand"(for more equitable places), as part of a 6-part series on Equity by Design. She will join the venerable former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Henry Cisneros and powerful equity and design champion, Ifeoma Ebo (one of the co-founders of Black Space) for a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Bill Thomas, seemingly jack of all trades and one of US News and World Report’s “America’s best leaders,” and hosted by age-friendly community guru, Stephanie Firestone, with an introduction by environmental gerontologist (that’s a thing!) Esther Greenhouse! They will engage in a dialogue around how design can and should be used to create more livable, equitable, and just places. Mariela will focus her thoughts around the how the built environment “affords” behaviors, and how that relationship translates into quality of life, as well as what the role of data should be in facilitating more livable, equitable, and sustainable places. This is the first of a six part series that AARP is hosting to kick off their Equity by Design principles.
And while you’re here, check out some of our previous posts about creating equitable places…
